Modern clear coats range between very soft and very hard. In some circumstances, we find that it is better to fully wet sand the paint with 3000 – 5000 grit products. This exposes a fresh layer of clear coat to work with. Clearly, this activity is only recommended for those trained and experienced in the processes involved.

Wet Sanding or Buffing
More Info
While you may be tempted to just get a buffing machine and attempt to cut back the damaged lenses coating, consider those plastics heat up very quickly. This process of high heat often leads to ‘burning’ of the plastic lenses. This is why we wet sand the surface to remove all traces of the UV damage. Then bring the surface up to a level where the application of the new coating will form a lasting bond.
Warranty

Your reconditioned headlight lenses come with a two-year operator application warranty. This warranty covers; that applicator has correctly prepared the lenses by fully removing the damaged coating and applied a new UV rated coating to a high standard of clarity.

What Brands & Equipment Do You Use?
Final Touch uses the best products from Meguiar’s and Rupe’s. When Combined these brands provide exceptionally high levels of paint correction while protecting & preserving the clear coat. It’s important to note that many ‘groomer’ still use the older rotary style machines which easily burn the clear coat and leave holograms and swirls etched into the paint surface.
